1. Never be rude
If your child is reluctant to go to school, you should also be polite about canceling. Her gentle tone makes children aware of the importance and necessity of school education. They learn to take “school problems” calmly. Your rudeness makes them feel like no one understands them.
2. Discuss their issues
Is school life exhausting your children? Have you made any friends or are you still lonely in class? Having trouble learning a particular subject? Get to the bottom of the problem by discussing their problem in detail. Children transition from being at home to being in a new environment for a good portion of their day. So you need to feel comfortable letting your children confide in you.
3. Give them a reason to look forward to go to school
Children always like one subject or the other, so you need to playfully encourage them to wait for interesting times at school. The children are now relieved and looking forward to this fun time at school.
4. Convince them that teachers are there to help
Some children are too shy to socialize at school. Such children become more introverted and generally start to fear teachers when they are scolded by teachers for any reason. This can be a strong reason not to go to school. Explain to the children that the teacher will be grateful if they do not make the same mistake. Help them build confidence. When the teacher praises the student, fear disappears.
5. Put their favourite treats in their tiffins
Nothing melts a foodie’s heart like good food. If your kids get bored with the same cheese sandwiches, try cream rolls, pasta or spaghetti instead. This stimulates their taste buds enough to wait for a break!
6. Consult teachers to know if the children are being bullied
Is your child being attacked by bullies? Are they protecting themselves or are they crying every morning? Do you feel they are afraid? This is a good time to reflect on your conversations with your class teacher. These unreported traumas can be very detrimental to your child’s health.
8. Ensure a sound sleep routine:
Is your child a night owl? Does your family sleep late at night? Do you tend to pack your satchel at 5:30 a.m.? Realize that all toddlers are required to get a minimum of 10 hours of sleep. Make sure your kids get a good night’s sleep to stay energized throughout school.
